Guide to Giving at Year-End
With the end of the year rapidly approaching, it’s a great time to review important financial matters and consider a gift to help the animals in care of the Terre Haute Humane Shelter (THHS). We recommend you connect with your financial advisor to make sure you take full advantage of tax benefits.
You can make an immediate impact by supporting our annual fund which provides desperately needed resources for operating the shelter, or consider a gift to our capital campaign to help us build a much needed new facility.
What can you give?
Cash. Charitable gifts are most often made in the form of cash and checks. If you itemize your tax deductions, gifts of cash can eliminate or reduce tax on up to one-half of your adjusted gross income (AGI)*. Be sure to maintain receipts, acknowledgements or back records related to your gifts. Methods of Payment:
*If you are subject to the alternative minimum tax (AMT), you will be pleased to know that the charitable deduction is one of the few deductions or adjustments that can lower your tax bill for both regular and alternative minimum tax purposes.
