This is Lena.  Beautiful, sweet, silver Lena.  Who could have abandoned her on a cold, dark, windy, rainy, night?  I don’t know, but I do know it wasn’t the Kind Lady who found her crying at the end of her driveway.  As scared as she was, she didn’t know that she could trust the Kind Lady, and she ran away.  But the Kind Lady and her Daughter chased after her for more than an hour before the Daughter managed to catch her under a large pine tree.  Poor baby!  Kind Lady took her home and gave her something to eat and a soft box to rest in.  The next day, Kind Lady saw that the little kitten’s eyes didn’t look right, like she couldn’t see very well, so she took the kitten to the Humane Shelter.  There was a foster mother there (me!), who was picking up another little kitten, and when she saw Little Lena, she knew she had to take both kittens home.  Kind Lady knew she would be able to go see Lena whenever she wanted to, so she agreed to let me take her home.  Lena and Lucy were both very thin, but gained weight quickly, and a few weeks later, both girls were happy and healthy.  But Lena’s eyes still didn’t look right, so we made an appointment to go to Indianapolis to see a special doctor who could look at Lena’s eyes and tell us if she was ok and could see.  By the time Lena got to the doctor, her eyes had improved a lot, and the doctor said her vision was near normal.  YEA!!!  Her eyes have never been limiting for her, since she runs around the house and plays with her sister Lucy, and 3 smaller kittens.  Lena is a loving little girl who loves to lay beside me to get her tummy rubbed and her chin scratched.  She absolutely loves Greenies Catnip Treats, and I give her 3 treats every night.  She really is a wonderful girl.  BUT!  She doesn’t enjoy being picked up.  She likes her pets, but on her terms.  Lucy is the same.  She will make an awesome kitty for someone.  She will really need to stay indoors, because of her vision.  Make an appointment to come to the shelter to see Lena and Lucy, and consider taking them both home.  You would be so very luck to have these two decorating your home.

If you are interested in meeting these kitties, please fill out an application on line for staff to review or stop in and let staff know so they can contact the foster mom to set up a meet and greet session. Meet and greets occur during adoption hours (Tues-Sun 1-4 and Friday 1 -6).
