Heidi is a very special dog. She was previously abused, and it shows by her timidness with new situations. You must take your time with her and allow her to become acclimated to you. Patience is very much needed with her so she can earn your trust. When training her, raising your voice is not an option - it will make her regress. Once she trusts you, she loves having her tummy scratched, and she enjoys being around you. She responds to her name very very well and won't stray too far from you. She is a fence jumper and has jumped 6' fences with ease.Walking her on a leash also requires some patience. Once she starts walking, she does a tremendous job on the leash - just hold the leash taut when a loud noise or a group of people walk by. She's still a bit apprehensive with noises and large groups of people. She also doesn't enjoy children that much, so she's best suit for a home with adults or young adults. Also, she responds better to women than she does men. She knows sit, speak, stay and is learning lay down. When she trusts you, she will show an everlasting affection that will melt your heart.
